Code for America Labs, Inc. (Code for America) is a non-profit organization and is recognized as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Code for America’s mission is to use the principles and practices of the digital age to improve how government serves the American public, and how the public improves government.

In carrying out that mission, Code for America works with a national network of volunteer chapters called Brigades. These Brigades receive administrative and fund management support from Code for America so they can concentrate their resources of time and energy on work with their community and local government.

Open Charlotte Brigade has been operating as a project of Code for America’s national network since 2014.
